Hi there, FLOCers…it’s so nice to meet you!! Working in corporate events with Hyatt Hotels for a couple of years after college, I gained a great deal of valuable experience in sales and event planning. However, I found myself wondering far too often what I was really doing with my life.
After leaving my job with Hyatt and spending most of 2008 backpacking around Central and South America, I knew that the corporate world was no longer for me. Having had minimal possessions and relying primarily on the kindness and generosity of those around me, I was reminded of the value of simplicity, community and most of all, family.
Shortly after my return home, I was blessed with the wonderful opportunity to work for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County as a part of the staff, our Young Professionals Committee and I am also going on my third year as a Big Sister. It took me a few years to figure it out, but I now know that my heart belongs in non-profit. Big Brothers Big Sisters has given me the opportunity to give back to my community both personally and professionally, while getting more back than I could have ever imagined. With over 200 children on our waiting list at any given time, any one of you can enjoy the same experience and I would be delighted to share with you our story.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and I thank you for sharing in my passion for giving back and the belief that we are all connected, and together, we can make a HUGE difference in our communities.
